Jon has taught music at all levels (K-12 to post-graduate) for over 40 years. More recently, he has developed music curricula at the Bug-O-Nay-Ge-Shig tribal school and Leech Lake Tribal College. A focus of his work is to help students discover how the flute’s voice may deepen understanding among people.
He has worked with

,
Ken Light, Bradley “Windy” Downwind, and elders on the Leech Lake Reservation to ensure a respectful and appropriate use of the Native Flute in today’s world. Jon plays often within the Leech Lake community for elders, health services, graduations, weddings, funerals, and various events.
